Has anyone had lots of experience playing this pickup in their Les Paul Classic? It seems to look pretty good to me. Would you take a JB or the 500T in the bridge there? Thanks.

Re: Gibson 496R/500T

I had the 496/500 combo in a Explorer reissue. I actually liked the 500T's sound. In a LP, I would choose the JB over the 500 though. Consider a '59/Seth/or Antiquity, too.

what type of music do you want to play? the jb is much more versitle than a 500t

Re: Gibson 496R/500T

When I was using 10-46 gauge strings i dint get that great tone out of it, now im using 9-42 and it kicks ass, but im still thinking of changing the 500T for a Duncan Custom, and the 496R for a '59. Dunno 'bout the JB though.

Re: Gibson 496R/500T

I really like the 496/500 set, but prefer EMGs and Duncans. If I had the 496/500, and couldn't replace them, I could use it and be happy.
