Gibson '79 T-top HB = Anico Pro II?

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Someone somewhere said something about this and I can't find the post. I love the sound of my neck pup in my '79. IS this thing essentially an APII? The bridge will be replaced by a DD shortly. After 25 years it's not mellow, it's just old and tired. The neck pup, however, is not leaving now (or possibly ever!).

ANyone know what that 79 pup is made of?

I used to own a green '79 t-bird.
*misses car*

As far as I know 70s T-tops are alnico 5 pickups. If that's the case then the closest SD model would probably be a '59. I'm sure there will be loads of information about T-tops at the Les Paul Forum if you do a search there.

I agree. The 59 is a better sounding pickup though. '79 T Tops were nothing special, IMO. Gibson was coming off of the worst period for quality in the company's history...though things were about to get better.
