I would assume that any good PAF inspired pickup would get it done, the only question would be A2 or A5. Nugent's main Byrdland is a 1962 model which should have original PAF's, the magnets used seem to be whatever Gibson got on sale that month so no telling what magnet was actually in Nugent's pickups. Antiquities, Seth's or Dimarzio 36th Anniversary's should be fine, the amp used should also be considered.
Any PAF styled pup is going to be a step in the right direction. I'm going to lean toward you trying an A5 based pup. A 59 or Jazz will be a great start. What kind of guitar are you putting this in?
I have the short scale,,And i get a fat tone out of it. I just want to get close anyway. I will probably check out the Alnico 5 for starters. I have vintage Wilkinson alnico's and I am close. I think I need more mids ?

Any good alnico 5 PAFish bucker will get you there...
I have a nice mid to late 60's PAT # pickup thats scary close to that sound if you're interested... it's the same pickup that would have been in one of Ted's later Byrds
I grew up on Nugent's Double Live Gonzo album, great live tones and awesome guitar playing and I'm still influenced even to this day.
Stock Brydland guitars and Fender amps cranked to 11 will get you Ted's sound.
