Hey....I really love the look of the Gibson Les Paul Customs but....they are just too damn expensive....are there any cheaper models or brands that have the same premise? With good pickups?
Unless you live in NJ or know someone who has one you won't be able to try it. Rondo Music is the exclusive dealer on these, in fact I'm pretty sure they have them made specifically for them and shipped from Korea. But at $250 to your door its kinda hard NOT to buy one.GuitarStv said:Wow, that's a sexy white les paul . . . and you say it plays well . . . I have to find one of these Agile guitars to try out!
TattooedCarrot said:I've owned a lot of Gibsons, and I currently own a custom shop LP custom, and IMO the best LP copy I've come across is the Agile. I bought a white one for my son for $250 shipped out-the-door. Best playing LP copy I've layed hands on right out of the box. FWIW I've also owned Epiphone, Ltd, and Tokai (my second choice). The Orvilles and Burnys are pretty nice, but they are harder to find and cost quite a bit (around $800 and more used).
Friggin HEAVY!! I'd say that's the downside. No laminates here, it's solid wood for sure, but the cuts they use are pretty heavy.mrid said:That's quite an endorsement! I've been on the fence with those for a long time. How much does your son's guitar weight?
TattooedCarrot said:And let me also ad in case there's any confusion. These are not rivals to Gibson, and they will not replace a real Les Paul. Don't think you're getting something of Gibson Les Paul caliber in these because you're not. But you are getting a fine copy and likey the best bang-for-buck new guitar out there.
Sounds like a good candidate for you then.mrid said:Oh, definitely. I'm just looking for something inexpensive and decent that I wouldn't worry about (too much) if it got trashed or stolen.

Most of the LP custom replicas have rosewood fretboards instead of
ebony.
The Edwards has a ebony board like a real LP Custom.

The Edwards you can usually score for a better price than the Tokai(Japan models) or the Orvilles. Tokai and Orville are more known.
People are just starting to catch onto ESPs other lines of guitars that are not sold outside of Japan like the Edwards line.
