Gibson/Epiphone pickup connectors

ehdwuld

A Ficus
Hey those Epiphone/ Gibson pickup connectors that came on my Florentine and Custom Studio
Where can one purchase those ?

While I am just fine soldering those things up

On my Gibson Custom Studio , I just noticed them the other day
And while I might want to slide in a JB Jazz set
I would like to be able to go back to factory

On the Epiphone Florentine, I swapped the connectors when I went to push push pots

I see where I can buy an entire Probucker set with harness and all online

Can I order those connectors?

On my Gibson Custom Studio, I think if I put the JB Jazz set in I probably will put in the triple shot rings as well
Can the rings be ordered with the connectors?

Re: Gibson/Epiphone pickup connectors

I think that Gibson (and maybe Epiphone) use more than one type connector. But, my LP Tribute used Molex #50079-8100 which are the individual terminals (little metal pins) for the 5 position Gibson connectors. The 5 position housing is Molex #51021-0500.
You have to crimp the pins onto the wires and then slide them into the housing (into the right position) and they lock in. There is actually a proprietary crimp tool that is a couple hundred dollars or more but decent generic crimp tools are in the 20-30 dollar range and work well. Do a search for those Molex part numbers and see if they match up to what's in your guitars. Yours may be different.

After connectorizing several pickups, I finally just pulled the board and wired the old fashioned way. But that's just me.

Re: Gibson/Epiphone pickup connectors

None of the Duncan products can be ordered with Gibson connectors. However, there are a few companies that make 'pigtails': connectors with wire, which you solder onto your pickups/Triple Shots. there are a few on Ebay right now.

Both companies use at least two different quick connection ends so you’d have to figure out which ones you needed & then splice or crimp them onto the Duncan’s. Personally I’d just pull the harness, put it & your stock pickups away, then rebuild a more traditional one so you can easily drop in whichever pups you want. Then if you decide to sell the guitar down the road you should be able to get it back to stock in about 10 minutes & hopefully recover some of the cash you spent on your aftermarket pickups....

I’ve done this to all 6 of my modern Gibson’s. It’s a PIA but once it’s done it done & I’m of the opinion that the pro’s far outweigh any cons. You can tailor the pots & caps to your chosen puppies and guitar....

Re: Gibson/Epiphone pickup connectors

These are what I used when I put the Custom & Jazz in my '16 Standard. This connector is for 4 conductor:

If yours came with two conductor pickups, you'll need these:

And these are the pins that go inside the connectors:

Also, I highly recommend going to the craft section of Walmart or to a Hobby Lobby, or a similar store and get yourself some jewelry pliers and crimpers. And one of those magnifying thingies you can wear would be a good idea too. I managed to get the job done with some normal needle noses, but I was cussing the whole time. It wasn't until I afterwards that I found the jeweler's crimp pliers.
