Gibson ES175

Jomo's Nimions
Anybody else have one of these? I'm borrowning my Dad's, and am now trying to figure out how to talk him into giving it to me :D What a cool guitar.

Re: Gibson ES175

They're great guitars.
My guitar teacher had one and I loved to play that thing...a little out of my price range at the time & I don't see them around too often anymore, in my area at least...

Re: Gibson ES175

I've got a 1952 ES-125, which the ES-175 from that era was basically the same guitar with slanted block inlays, a different tailpeice, and a cutaway. Oh, and better tuners. I love the thing to death.

Re: Gibson ES175

I tried to talk my dad into giving me the guitar, but ended up settling for "how about you just borrow it for as long as you want." :D

Hey foamy, mine looks like yours (albeit beat up pretty bad) except it has a P-90 instead of a bucker.

Re: Gibson ES175

I had a Blond 1956 ES-175D that a teacher loaned me for like 2 years. It had 2 p-90s. Those things were sweet.

The bucker in mine is the original P.A.F.
It also is sweet.

Enjoy ur new box!

Re: Gibson ES175

I need a jazz box.
My current choices are between the Heritage 575, Heritage Golden Eagle, or my first choice - Heritage Super Kenny B or Kenny B Groovemaster

Its either one of those or a 175.

My ultimate dream though is the Gibson Wes signature. :32: :32:

Re: Gibson ES175

Go for the 175 bro... they rule!

I can't believe how versatile a guitar with only a neck pickup can be. On top of that, the tone knob doesn't even work, and it still kicks ass! Speaking of which... if i were to replace the tone control, what value pot and cap and all that shiite would I wanna use (assuming I want it as close to original as possible)?
