Gibson Explorer + Pearly Gates Neck & Bridge

Hello

well..before i could solve the problem of the 500T pick ups, i would like to choose a good combo for my explorer, to play mostly classic rock/blues/southern rock, like Free, Bad Company, Allman Brothers, Skynyrd, Black Oak Arkansas, Grand Funk Railroad etc..
Do you think a pair of PG would be the right choice? I'm a little afraid of lose the possibility to play some 80's hard rock. I've heard a sound clip of someone playing Randy Rhoads riffs and it was great in a strat bridge.
How about an Explorer? Anyone had the experience? Thanks!!

I've never had them in an Explorer, but I can tell you they work great at the sounds you described when using them in a LP. With the right amp, they can also get brutally heavy.
