Gibson faded Les Paul standard

Well, I went and picked one up in faded tobacco. I really like this thing, feels good, looks great, plays and sounds good too. It's very light, I don't have a scale, but I think it's lighter than my R7 that is 8.9 lbs. Right out of the box the action was a little high, so I'll have to set that up to my liking. I have to say I'm on the fence on the BBV's. They are good enough to consider them good pickups, but are a little thinner than I prefer for my tastes; very Page-like (I like a little thicker Duane tone). So I might or might not swap them out.

Looks much better there than the photo on Gibson's site IMO. Very nice.

Wow! That's ther best looking top that I have seen on one of the faded's. Nice score. Did you buy directly at a store or via the internet?

how on earth did you land one with that good of a top? man i'm jealous! i looked high and low online and at all the local shops i know of and at a damn guitar show and every one (aside from yours and wattage's) have had the ugliest bland tops. man that's a killer good score!!

I love mine and mine is also very light. I think they've dropped a few jems out there for sure. Good luck with it TC. BTW I like the BBV neck but the bridge was gone the day after I got it. Got a Screamin Demon in for now but I am putting in a 59 eventually.

I like the fact they have almost no finish, since the wood breathes better and resonates more. Let me know when you want to sell yours!

I got it at music123, can you believe that? Stupid me took another chance on a sight-unseen and ended up with that. I didn't go with my regular Gibson guy this time because it was very much a impulse GAS buy (aren't they all), and he had to order it and I'd have to plan to drive down 80 miles and check it out, and I just don't have time right now. So, $1460 out-the-door and I bumped up $40 for 2nd day air.

TC...I dog it brother! That one has a killer top on it, and I really like the colour. When you get tired of looking at it or you decide to buy something else let me know...I will take that one off your hands!

i was playing one today and i love the way the resonate its something else. i wasnt a fan of the pickups either though. they could use more low end to them they sounded too trebley for my liking.
