Gibson Flying V Peghole Size

Hey guys,

I just purchased a 2006 Alpine White Flying V, and I am looking to replace the stock tuners with some chrome Grover locking tuners. Do any of you know what the size of the holes on the headstock are? The Grovers I was interested in are 10mm in diameter, and I wanted to verify before I ordered so I do not have to do any extra drilling and boring.

Thanks!!!!

OMG..never drill those tuning peg holes..you'll rip it to sh!t( unless you are pro with a drill press and clamps or something). Get a reamer and ream from both sides a little at a time, checking the tuner fit everytime you get close. You can always make it bigger , but you can't make it smaller.
You shouldn't have to though, cause most schallers, Sperzels, Klusons , Gotohs and Grovers, except the vintage Fender style which are smaller are 10MM and will work on a Gibson just fine.

The holes needed for the Grovers should be the same as the ones for the Gibson Deluxes that are one there.

FWIW, Gotoh makes lockers ("Magnum Lock") that keep the stock look, and that will not require any holes to be drilled for the tuner screws.

Direct replacement, no worries. Even the bottom screw lines up with the original Gibson deluxe hole, although sometimes a part of the top screw hole is still visible at the top edge of the Grover housing - no biggie.
