Re: gibson guitar company usa

sounds like an old "the paul", from back in the day of the ugly ol headstock decal

or a maurauder or S1 possibly, whichever one didn't have the V neck. or any number of 70s norlin things that no one really pays attention to anymore.

pic?

i dont think sonex or the studio had binding around the edge.i read somewhere that some early gibsons had bolt on necks.

Peter,
If that is a bolt on neck...it is not a genuine USA Gibson.

Gibson made an SG style guitar, with the Kalamazoo name on it, in a bolt on neck. The headstock looked similar to a Telecaster headstock. The 2 single coil pickups were horrible, but it was an okay guitar to learn on.

Anyway...I think you have a guitar that someone obtained a Gibson decal and put it on a Japanese brand guitar, or it might be a Sonex.

Yes, but none that looked like a Les Paul Standard. And none with such a stretch on the headstock! ('The Gibson guitar company' is way too long).
