Gibson HP- auto tuner removal/swap

Re: Gibson HP- auto tuner removal/swap

I'll add something as well, if you plan on buying a guitar with the G-Force tuners, don't buy them used. I bought a used HP that was only a year old or so, and when I went to replace the tuners with traditional ones, the unit was screwed in so tight that it left an indent in the finish. YMMV though, it might have been a single error or they might come screwed on to tight as a factory standard.

an indent wouldn't bother me if the price was right but thanks for the heads up. nicks, scratches and dings really don't bother me, they add character, IMHO and I typically take a scotch pad to the neck of my guitars unless it has an oil rubbed or smooth satin finish. I don't like lacquer finish as my hands sweat too much.

I certain;y understand added weight. I certainly understand that it doesn't work very well, too. I've read on various forums that many people don't like them because of tradition- that one I don't understand.
