Gibson Les Pau Studio Wiring.

I know this has been asked here before, but I can't find it. I have a 2009 Gibson Les Paul Studio and when I went to swap out the pickup, it had these clips instead of soldering. Is there a way I can do this myself? Do I need more parts? Can I even Change the pickups? Thanks in advance.

Quick and dirty, just cut the wires about 2 inches from the clips... or however long you can get them. Splice those onto the ends of your new pickups. Wrap with electrical tape.
Play.

(and by splice, I mean solder them together)

Fair enough lol, is the color coding the same, or do I have to do trial and error?

no they are different! look at this

I don't know if anyone has told you how awesome you guys are, but you are :) Thanks a lot. 1 more question.

I wired and I got sound, which is good. It sounds right except for one thing; excessive noise (static white noise when not played), would this be a wiring issue or is it just that the pickup is noisy ( SD Alt 8). I know it's a very high output pickup, but it does have a lot of electrical feedback, did I mix up the hot and ground wiring, or would that be noticeable in a "dead" sound. The pickup sounds pretty good except for the static noise. Let me know what you think and thanks for all your help guys and girls.

hmm, a lot of noise could be a grounding issue, but i'm no expert on that. I wouldn't have thought it was normal...

If you've got a 4-conductor pup, check that you twisted the right wires together(see Jakes post schem) and that you've connected the ground wire to common ground.
I'm not sure how the clip is wired in the Studios, but it sounds like a ground issue.

Re: Gibson Les Pau Studio Wiring.

Well looks like I have a few options. Also, I didn't have electrical tape on me, so I used regular scotch tape...bad?

Re: Gibson Les Pau Studio Wiring.

Scotch tape will work fine, but it doesn't exactly last long.

Electrical tape might solve the problem.
Scotch tape doesn't inhibit conductivity terribly well.

I was working under the assumption that the connector to the board was a 2 pin... that may have been an incorrect assumption.
Can you take pics?
