Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

I've recently been somewhat interested in Gibson Les Paul Juniors due to the fact I've been listening to GreenDay's newest release. I have checked the Gibson website and can't find any information on Gibson Les Paul Juniors. Are Les Paul Juniors an artist model that is only available to Billie Joe himself or is it also available to the general public for purchase? Anyone know the scoop? :32: :)

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

As I understand it, the Juniors were discontinued, but that does not mean you cannot find one at a store.

Look at http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/lespaul/JrSpecial.html or
http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/LesPaul/lpj.html

They're under the "Discontinued models" part of the website.

I have a Gibson The Hawk which which was discontinued in 1998, and I bought it in late 2000 here in the Czech Rep. It had stayed in stock of a shop unnoticed for the two years or so until I picked it up.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

i was thinking about this a while back too, and the answer is right now its only available through the gibson custon shop asa reissue. An oringal junior will send you into poverty so i would stay away from that lol I think gibson used to sell them as part of thier regualr line only it did not come with a compensated bridge but rather a tun o matic bridge. The closest thing you are going to find to a gibson lp junior right now would be either the melody maker or the faded double cutaway les paul.

Hope this helps.

Oh btw i gave up on getting a lp junior because i figured if i cant get the real deal i dont want a second choice guitar. not that they are bad guitars but i know iw ouldn't be happy compromising myself. :)

Oh and yes the new green day cd is amazing! Just thought you would know since you seem to liek les pauls, that billie joe uses an oringal 1956 lp junior i believe and for the record he used that for rhythm parts as for his solos he used a 1959 reissue les paul standard.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

Did you forget about these that Gibson released recently?

LP Jr.

I've got one and I'm really liking it. They aren't to the original specs exactly but they deffinately put you in the older LP Jr. ballpark.

That's what I meant. But they are not manufactured anymore (discont'd for 2002 or so).
But yes, there is something about that wraparound bridge/tailpiece, which the tune-o-matic/stop tailpiece cannot quite give you.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

Yes those are being manufactured right now, Gibson brought them back at the first of this year, I just bought one a month ago. Look at the link again, that is a site where you can buy them.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

The new Jr's are a bit different than th eolder style, mostly around the neck joint. Nothing wrong with them really just an observation.

Spend sometime looking around used, good Jr's are pretty common and even some older ones aren't insane money. Also look for some old sc Melody Makers that have been routed for humbuckers. Good old wood!

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

One thing I've noticed as I've been playing my Jr. along with my tele and GAX70 is how resonate it is unpluged. I've played Gibson's at guitar center and it's usually not quiet in there so maybe that had something to do it with, I've never gotten to set down with a Gibson where it's quiet. But this thing is almost like I'm playing my acoustic. My roomate heard me playing and couldn't beleive how it sounded unpluged. And pluged in the P90 really sings, quite noisey though, I'm used to my hum canceling pups.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

And actually they raised them $100, it was just a promotional deal since they were new again. I knew they were gonna raise the price that's why I jumped on it while it was $649.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Junior...........

Try a Gibson Melody Maker. I did... and liked it:DLike an even more stripped down Junior with a Poplar body. Only $400something at GC, I'm sorry I didn't buy that one, but you can find comperable prices elsewhere.
