Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

I dislike the finish, but thats just me. I'd sooner look for a used Standard with the real deal finish before I bought a new Faded any day.

+1, i dont like gibson's faded finishes..
although im pretty sure thats the only difference..

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

I like the finish. The issue I have with those is most of the tops look sloppy to me. The burst around the edges looks like it was done by someone who didnt know what they were doing.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

I like 'em. Anything to get me closer to a sunburst Les Paul without spending multiple thousands...

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

Ok, let mi change the topic a little bit: What about the Gibby Les Paul Classic?

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

Classics at least have ugly inlays. And the quality of them isn't so great (from very little experience, and the best ones are perhaps not send to Finland :D)
Just get a used Std?

:eek13:what do you mean you people?

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

i think he meant "you dirty long-hair rocker types who've gone years without haircuts."

it's a cruel world man, you gotta get used to that kinda hate speech tho...

Yellow inlays, plain tops, different pickups (Neck Pickups: 496R ceramic magnet humbucker
Bridge Pickups: 500T ceramic magnet humbucker). The classics only come with the 60's slim taper necks. I've been gassing for a Vintage Sunburst Classic myself.... :)

I think that if I was going to buy an economical new Gibson Les Paul these days, I'd be looking at the Studios.

Nice specs. Alnico 490/498 magnet pickups. No binding on the body or neck, but I kind of like that personally. You should be able to find a good used one for less than a new Faded.

I'm not real big on those Faded finishes, but I'd think about a used one if it was priced low enough.

I'd say you couldn't go wrong trying some out. It wouldn't hurt to try some studios, classics, standards, standard fadeds, etc and see if any in particular strike your interest. I'd say be openminded and give them all a try because who knows you may be missing out.... :)

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

My Faded Standard kicks ass, probably the best guitar I've ever owned and I have owned a few.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Sd Faded

While I have a standard, I think a used faded is about the best bang for the buck Les Paul.
