Gibson Les Paul vintage mahogany vs LTD EC-1000

I'm wanting to get a Les Paul or Les Paul style guitar. I've eliminated everything except for the Gibson Les Paul vintage mahogany from Musicians Friend and the ESP LTD EC-1000 in blackcherry. I wouldn't change the pups in either of them. They both have pros and cons. But I just can't decide between the two. I like rock, hard rock and some metal. Some of the bands that I like are Nirvana, Green Day, Godsmack, Ozzy & Zakk, Metallica, Korn, Motley Crue, Guns & Roses, Velvet Revolver, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Junkyard, Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback, Van Halen and Jet just to name a few.

I'm also wanting to get a different distortion pedal. Currently I play through a Crate GT212 amp, and Boss Metal Zone and Zoom 505II pedals. I like the Zoom's effects so I'm keeping that. But I don't really like the Metal Zone. It's a really good distortion pedal but it's too noisy and bright. Instead I was thinking about getting one of the following pedals: Boss Distortion, DigiTech's Hot Head, Grunge, Hot Rod, DOD's Grunge, Supra Distortion, or any of the Ibanez's Tube Screamers. And if there is anything else that I didn't list that would be good too, tell me. Which one of these combos of guitars and pedals would be the best for playing the music from ALL of these bands? I'd appreciate it if you EXPERIENCED guys out there could help me out.

no offence, but this "debate" has gone on many times before. go to th search key at the top and type in ec-1000

Get the ESP. THe vintage mahogany seems to be nothing but a crappier version of the LP studio. You would be very happy with LTD guitars, they great guitars for the price.

ive had a studio that was made from solid mohogany, and i loved it, i havent tried the new gibsons yet though so i cant say for them. but the older mohoganys were awesome. it actually outsounded my 72 les paul custom. plus you have the resale value of the gibson where with esp you really dont.
