Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

If I'm going to buy a Lester, then I'm going with the best Gibson I can find.

A CU22 though... :burnout:

Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

tough call if i ahd to choice i would go with a gibson les paul, but i would be really happy with either, both are champions!

Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

In a perfect world, own both, then your opinion actually WILL matter. (not directed at anyone). Instead of arguing over BMW vs. Mercedes, wouldn't you rather just have both parked in your driveway? I know I would.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

I know it’s a choice between only these two, but why not turn them both down and ask if there’s anything by Ed Roman you could get, as Roman already said that Gibson and PRS can never compare to what he’s got anyway.

wow, much closer than I thought it would be... hmm...

That's a funny way to look at it....I don't care for PRS's opr Mercedes'! BUT...I do love my Gibsons AND my BMW!!!

Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

I prefer Gibson's designs, but I think PRS puts out better quality instruments for the money.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

While I think Singlecut PRS's are great, they just don't feel right. A Les Paul has a certain feel (as well as sound). A typical PRS might be better than a typical Les Paul... but find a really nice Historic and you'll have a guitar that's simply the best.

Hahahaha!

I have absolutely no say in this, seeing as I've only played Gibsons at my local store. I'll cry the day they'll let me even LOOK at their PRS stock.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

In my opinion from what i have played, i really do think gibson is one of the top brands out there today. Why else would they be where they are? Why are they featured on so many records? Its quite simply. They are that good in my opinion. Perhaps it may because i dont have that much experience with guitars but its just from what i have experienced on my own.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs PRS Singlecut

I've got to go with PRS. I love them. I'm not as big a fan of their singlecuts, I prefer their normal body shape guitars, but I'd still rather have the SC over the LP any day. First, I prefer the PRS 25'' scale, which the SC also has, their smoother tone, better consistancy, the more contoured feel, and of course they use far more figured maple tops than any Gibson. I'm not a huge fan of Les Pauls I guess, and if I was to buy a Gibson I'd probably get a flying-v instead.

I have found a few LP Studio models which I've liked though. They also seem to be slightly better quality I find, because their simpler design leaves less oppertunities for Gibson to f*ck up.

The rep came from what they did decades ago. The modern production stuff is marginal hit or miss at best. QC is atrocious. The vintage reissues are probably exempt from those statements but the vast majority aren't buying those.
