Gibson licensing builds to Echopark Guitars?

Re: Gibson licensing builds to Echopark Guitars?

But that was Epiphone’s headstock since before Gibson bought them.

Epiphone should be allowed to use the Gibson headstock shape on the Gibson models they make (SGs, Les Pauls) and stick with the Epiphone headstock on the Epiphone models like the Dots, Wilshires, Sheratons, Emperors, etc. It's not like Gibson makes them use some weird headstock for their Firebirds. I'm sure they're afraid an Epiphone Les Paul with the open book headstock would cut into the sales of the Gibson LPs.

I think this is what keeps lots of people from buying Epiphones. Fender's Squier has the same Fender headstock, and people universally love Squiers. No one mistakes them for Fenders, and they sell a ton of them. Everyone is happy.

Metal-heads use so much distortion, acoustic tone is of little consequence. If Gibson were to fit Epiphone guitars with a Gibson/Appleton headstock, they would sell like mad.

Funny - Squier’s reputation improved a lot in the last ten-fifteen years (and they deserve it.) At one point I wished they’d use a *different* headstock to avoid brand dilution. Nowadays part of me still thinks a ‘Fender’ should be a US-only thing, but I think the imports earned the headstock :)

Historical or not the Epiphone headstock always looked terrible to me. I’d rather throw correctness out and have a Les Paul with a batwing (to factor in some degree of ‘accuracy’ to the Epiphone name) than the weird ruffled looking thing.

I remember when i was in high school squires were not great to say the least. When the classic vibe stuff came out i actually was suprised by how good they were as every squire i played was pretty bad.
