Re: Gibson Limited Edition Flying V

I don't get it. Is it a 2001 or a 1998? You say in the post it's a 2001 year 1998 L.E. which is kind of confusing.

Re: Gibson Limited Edition Flying V

Its called a V98, they were made from 1998-2001. They are pretty much a regular production V, except in natural or natural burst, and they also had purple - with gold hardware (including the pole pieces), and the 58 style pickguard and controls rather than the 67. They also have limited edition written on the back of the headstock. You can still get these (natural only) once in a while as Gibson does still makes them, but its not considered a regular production model so it does not appear on their product catalog and the current versions do not have the limited edition logo.

Here's mine, it was not a limited edition version (not trying to hi-jack the thread, just wanting to help clear up these models)

I have one that looks just like TattooedCarrot's guitar. They're great guitars.

Jolly,
I think you are mistaken. You have a 1998 Limited Edition V sunburst like mine. Tattooed Carrot's guitar has a natural burst and he has gold hardware.

Mine has changed out pups to Duncans, with a roll off mod to the bridge pup and has changed control knobs. I bought it this way.

TC,
Mine does not have the Limited Edition sticker on the back of the headstock. I understand Gibson did that in the first few years of production, then stopped.
