Gibson LP "Custom Shop Edition"

I don't know how much of you know about the guitar synthesizer system from the eighties, the GR-700... But I got a hold of one, along with a Standard Gibson Les Paul set up with the GR-700 pickup. If you haven't seen one of these systems before, it looks very, very strange. I'm planning on selling it, but I have absolutely no idea how much it should go for -- what is a fair price range? It's easy to find the market value for a GR-700 because they were so numerous, but I'm having trouble determining the value of the guitar itself, and therefore, the overal value of the guitar/synth system. I have found absolutley no information about it and it's not on ebay. Does anyone have any clue what kind of value it has, or knows of a way that I can find out? The serial number is: 81075534. I have included pictures from my cell phone; I should have more up soon. I know it's fuzzy in one of the photos, but above the serial number, there is a Gibson logo that says, amidst a banner, "Custom Shop Edition."

Any ideas as to its value?

--did GIBSON butcher that lespaul like that?? Or did someone do it AFTER they bought it??
-It has dots instead of blocks on the fretboard, that's a customshop thing.

If Gibson did ALL the work(w/the synthesizer) then I'd guess 2 to 3k?
If Gibson DIDN'T do the work----$1200-1700, maybe less...BUT, I'm NO EXPERT!!!

someone sure drilled alot of holes in that thing!

Re: Gibson LP "Custom Shop Edition"

similar to what robert fripp used on the 3 80s Crimson albums, I am guessing.

I've only seen a few of those guitars before. I can't even remember what I saw them selling for, but I'm pretty sure it was over $2000. According to that serial number it's a 1985 model. I recommend calling Gruhn Guitars in Nashville. Those dudes know the going rate for almost every guitar in the world.

Re: Gibson LP "Custom Shop Edition"

LOL....well, I just saw one for sale for $7500, but that's at Gruhn Guitars, and they're rather pricey. Also, it was owned by Bob Welch, so that could jack the price up. However, yours is in much better shape than the one they're selling, so it might just equal out the pricing. Anyways, I'd say you could get $5000 for it from someone that's just dying to have one.

EB5800 Gibson Les Paul Studio Standard with Roland synth electronics (More photos...) , 1985, VG+, formerly owned and used by Bob Welch (of Fleetwood Mac, "Sentimental Lady" and "Ebony Eyes" fame), replacement Seymour Duncan humbuckers, factory original with Roland GR-700 synth guitar system, comes with original Roland floor unit, cord and programming unit, original pickups, CD with a track featuring this gear, plus a collection of images and documents, original Protector case......$7500
