Sorry if this is old news. I haven't been on the Gibson site for a while.

Kind of silly...

Kind of silly, until you look at the price. Then it's just stupid.

I would rock this... except for the price. I think it's funny they mention value in the description

I can't decide how I feel about this one

On the upside, they have stopped calling the Explorer the "X-Plorer" and the Flying V the "V-Factor"

Re: Gibson - new products

Yay! More reasons for me to dislike Gibson! If I had any reason to have respect for them, it's almost completely gone.

I do like the look of the SG though, but it's probably going to be stupidly priced.

Gibson loses at life.

The tribal has a kahler, that held my attention

The SG is bad-ass.

Re: Gibson - new products

I like the Tribal V. The Zakk V has been out for a little while. It's insanely expensive and it's placement of the selector switch is horrible. I like the looks of the SG, but I don't care for it's volume knob's placement.

Re: Gibson - new products

I'd really, really like to try that Wilshire (a custom shop repo of an oldschool Epi - very, very cool), but it's way out of range. For 2k I'd seriously consider it, but almost 5k - are you kidding me? Instead I'll get another used PRS McCarty Soapbar that sounds and probably plays much better for less than half that costs.

Re: Gibson - new products

that SG looks badass

i like that theyre using kahlers on stuff

the zakk V is cool, but stupidly expensive (ive played one once, but the setup was piss-poor so i cant really comment on it fairly)

Re: Gibson - new products

Neither V is my cup O tea.

The Epi Wilshire RI is teh bidness. Shame it's so 'spensive. They should do a regular production run of those.

The SG is the kind of guitar I would want real bad 'till I bought one, and then I'd turn around and sell it for a small loss in two months' time. It's like the girl who looks good but who's all wrong for you once you dig a little deeper.

I ams far more happys pants about the return of Mr. mostly-proper Les Paul Junior:

...for a reasonable price.

Re: Gibson - new products

Let's see where the Aceman's scorecard falls out:

Tribal Floyd V: Nice to see they caught up with Slayer circa 1990
- 1
Zakk V: Cool. If you are Zakk Wylde. And have Zakk Wylde bank.
- 2
Wilshire: I really dig it! P-90's, alt-yet-classic, cheap
+1
SG: That is SEXY. I love the control layout.
+2

It's a wash, overall score 0. Which for Gibson is an unusually high score these days.

Re: Gibson - new products

Just my opinion:

The tribal V is ok, but it's been done before.
The Zakk V is cool, but too expensive.
The Epi is....classic in a way, but not my thing.
I always thought flametop SG's look tacky.

I gotta admit, it's not the worst things Gibson has come out with lately!

Re: Gibson - new products

The junior SOSOMETHING posted is HOT! I intend to buy that!

The white one comes with an ebony fretboard. Since I already own 2 Juniors, I'd probably get that one.

...Though the temptation to get cherry and complete the set would be great.

Oh I WANT IT!

Re: Gibson - new products

The Junior stole the show! I want one too... time to start my deuce bigelow business! Lol.

Re: Gibson - new products

I really like the Tribal EXCEPT for the tribal graphics. If there were no graphics, it would be killer.. White pup rings, Kahler. BUT... They still didnt put a locking nut on there. I wanted one of the guitar of the week explorers with the kahler (even wanted one of the Vs) but they didnt use a locking nut and I heard they were awful to try to keep in tune if you dare touch the bar..
Why overlook such a small detail?

The Zakk V is nearly ideal except the bullseye and switch placement. and, of course, price. I do like the full knob selection, floyd, inlays.

A guitar I really love the features of is the Marcus Henderson.. I just wish they were using a normal explorer body.. I dont like the narrow waist of the futura
