Gibson P-90 Question....

So as I went to pull the PCB out of my new Gibson Jr. last night I noticed that the single Dog Ear P-90 (not a P-100) in the bridge has a 5 wire lead instead of the typical two. Now I'm going to go out on a limb & say that this was put on there for cost effectiveness so they could use the same connection for both their humbuckers & their P-90's? If this is the case then at least two of the wires connected to this pickup's quick connector aren't doing anything at all...

So I guess my main question is does anyone know which wires are actually working as the positive & negative leads? I mean should I just go about this like it was a 5 wire Gibson humbucker that I want to run as a two wire humbucker or is tying the white/green wires together & using the bare wire as ground completely useless???

The idea is to get the stock harness (2X 500K pots & a Orange Drop capacitor) out & then replace it with a couple of 300K potentiometers & a .033 PIO capacitor, keeping the original pickup since I'm reasonably happy with it. Normally I'd just pulled the pickup out & figure out what's what but I'd rather not have to pull the strings off if I can avoid it since not removing them will save both time & money.

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Gibson P-90 Question....

I'm not 100%, but I'd assume it uses the same wiring as the P-94. This is Gibson's info on the 94:
