Gibson P90 height screws

I've go a Gibson LP DC faded project that I'm finally getting around to completing.

The pickup cavities have threaded brass inserts at the bottom that
only take machine threaded screws, basically HB height adjustnent screws
but need to be way, way longer.

Where the hell can I get proper Gibson P90 screws to match?
The local (only) Gibson dealer has no idea and aftermarket options are all wood screws.

I know I can just remove the brass inserts and dowel the holes
but any help in locationg original machine screws would be very much appreciated.

Cheers, Will.

P-90's AKA Soapbars ....always had a kind of wood screw going right into the body
like these

If there's brass inserts you will have to figure out what size they are
standard humbuckers used # 3-48 x1" or 1 1/4" Philips machine screws

Standard Humbucker machine screws fit but they're at least 1/2 inch too short and 1 1/4 " still wont reach by miles!!

WRONG, Wrong, wrong…

Machine screws are the wrong type!

You need wood screws like these

Re: Gibson P90 height screws

Not wood screws. Machine screws to fit the brass inserts.

I have a LP DC with P-90s and it uses long machine screws into the brass inserts. Gibson mounted 2 of the inserts upside down in mine. Makes it very hard to get the screws into. I was able to pull one out and put it in correctly.

The machine screws make the pup height more finely adjustable than wood screws.

Re: Gibson P90 height screws

Ok i just pulled one of those screws from my 60's tribute les paul
& it fits a standard humbucker baseplate .so it a 3-48 & its total length is Almost 1 1/2" long
that's hard to find
But i just swap it with one of these
http://www.mojotone.com/guitar-part...ne-Humbucker-Pickup-Mounting-Screws-Nickel-10
& it works just fine & i still room to adjust the pickup up or down in the my 60's tribute
I know its a different guitar & the neck angle & action has much to do with this

Thanks gents,

I'm gonna bite the bullet and just replace the inserts with dowel
and use traditional wood screws.
$38 postage for $2 worth of screws does NOT make any economic sense:boggled:

Re: Gibson P90 height screws

I'd be very surprised if you can find 3-48 x 1-1/2" Phillips at a hardware store

And less likely in a country that is predominantly metric!

There are specialist fastener suppliers however though 4 screws
does not warrant a special order of a box of 500.

It's amazing how rare countersunk panhead screws are in Australia,
both wood and machine screws, phillips and flathead.

If the inserts are screwed in ,would it be possible to loosen the insert with a screw driver ..kind of make it stick up a little so a shorter screw will take thread

Nah, these are pressed fit with knurled sides so they'll have to be completely removed.
Whilst I'm at it I may as well make provisions for Gibson mini hums and
Lawrence mini hums with the 4 corner surround screws,

P90's and mini hums are the most under resourced in ways of fitting
arrangements of any pickups:kabong:

Re: Gibson P90 height screws

Willie, if Mojotone has what you need, keep in mind that I need to order some gold pole pices from them, as do you I believe, so we could get an order together from them for all our needs.

No, I was refering to wood screws. He said he was going to remove the inserts and dowel the holes and place wood screws but was concerned about the $38 price of shipping (if I understood his post correctly).

But, yeh, you can't find 3-48 x 1 1/2" at a hardware store.
