Gibson Quick Connect 2016 SG Faded pickup replacement question

Hi there,

I am in the process of installing 2 SD Distortions in my SG that has quick-connect, I installed the bridge by cutting the molex pin plug thing off of the old pickup and soldering the wires individually from the SD Dist to it, plugging it in as usual and all works well. I have seen/heard that you can also just do it straight to the pot and ground like a normal set up. I was just wondering if I used that method would the open pin plug thing cause any extra noise? Seeing as its sitting there open?

Thanks

An open molex connector shouldn't cause noise. I would cover it/tape it though because if something touches it that is not supposed to you'll either get noise or no sound at all.

An open pin shouldn't cause noise, unless it is touching something it isn't supposed to. You should be fine. But if there is a problem, come back and post pics and we will try to help sort it out.
