Gibson SG-X

I'm putting her up fo sale. At this point I only need one SG and my Standard does just fine. I'm in the process of building a Tele and I think between the two I will have all I need.

I bought this from a forum member about a year ago as plain black. I upgraded it with a black/cream/black pickguard and custom-made matching trussrod cover (Chandler...and not cheap either!!). The trussrod cover is made out of the same material as the guard. The black and cream match the side markers on he neck, it all goes together very well. I upgraded the bridge and and tailpiece both to TonePros (chrome). Put on some knurled metal knobs. The frets are very free of wear (can take pics if you really want), neck and trussrod are in perfect working order. This guitar has it's share of dings- nothing major, but it had been played. The lack of neck route makes this thing really solid. 24 fret of course. It has a stock two-position mini switch for alternate wiring. It has a nice dark tonal quality that goes very well with a JB, DD, or '59. There is a DD in it right now. It's really old (DDJ I think). This guitar will be shipped in an old hard shell case. I do not use anything else. Price is $500 + shipping or we can meet for a local pickup. Pics are below. Of course, any additional upon request.

Re: Gibson SG-X

I always thought these were really kool guitars. And really wanted one when they first came out in the mid 90's. But I'm poor.

so.....BUMP!

p.s.
didn't these come stock with a single coil in the neck spot?

That was the SG-90. Some of the SG-Z do as well. SG-X is just a bridge hum. Came with a 500T stock.

How is it balance-wise, meaning does it have that SG-neck heavieness?

It doesn't neck dive for me. I don't notice it with SGs like some do. It has a heavier body than my Standard. Dark tones.

I'll trade you for my BC Rich :D

Or possibly even my Fender Strat heh.

Not much of a Strat guy...maybe if it was a hardtail. I would consider a Tele or something with a P-90 or two.
