Gibson Snow Falcon

Re: Gibson Snow Falcon

It reminds me of a British tourist with his shirt off at the beach. A pasty white body haha.

Re: Gibson Snow Falcon

I love the fact that with pickup rings and knobs, you can completely change the vibe of this guitar.

Re: Gibson Snow Falcon

MSRP of $1499 seems high to me for a V. But the regular V is at $1199 so I guess a couple hundred more for an endorsement type model is normal.

^ Only because I've never heard of Brendon Small. Nicely done, though. I even like how the white fades out to a very light grey at the edges -- kind of sets it off in a good way.

Re: Gibson Snow Falcon

The white painted fretboard strikes me as kinda gross. Two gigs and you would have a great showcase for grease and dirt.

Its visually stunning fingerboard is created from white polymer laminated to hard baked maple, with no front position markers to invade its snowy expanse.

I bet it wipes clean for 15-20 years. Now a refret is a DISASTER I imagine.

Overall I really like it!

Re: Gibson Snow Falcon

Kind of cool. I might actually consider picking one up used some day, because they're too expensive new. But the fact that it's a signature model for a cartoon character is a huge turnoff. I don't even watch that cartoon. I don't think I could let myself be seen in public with one. It was hard enough purchasing my G&L Rampage, since I am not really an A.I.C. fan. But the guitar was so good and so cheap, that I did it anyhow. In this case, I'm not so sure...and the guitar costs 5x as much.

The cool thing about the Snow Falcon and the Thunderhorse is that while they are signature models they are very subtle: this was done intentionally because Brendon Small hates gimmicky novelty guitars. There is not the character's face or some kind of signature or drawing on either instrument. The only allusion to the show is the name of the instrument on the trussrod cover stenciled in standard Gibson font, and frankly Snow Falcon and Thunderhorse sound like names Gibson would've chosen for their guitars already and I'm actually surprised they didn't. Anyone unaware of the show "and many who are" would not even notice. The most unique things about them are the finishes which aren't an eyesore by any means. No gimmicky technology or weird stuff. You could argue that they're cartoon signature models but they are more like standard Gibson guitars designed by an artist. Also they are rather modestly priced considering they are a limited run and coming from Gibson of all places. That's actually another thing Brendon did deliberately: he wanted to make guitars that weren't totally beyond the reach of the average working musician. It's 1.5k on GIBSON'S site and taking preorders. When it hits vendors it will be a couple hundred less. But since they are in fact limited, chances are they won't be going DOWN in price the older they get.

Re: Gibson Snow Falcon

I wouldn't call teh Snow Falcon subtle at all, that thing is bling.
