Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

I just fired off an email to Gibson, we should all show support for one of the best music stores in the world. I've been going to Elderly for more then 10 years and they are the best! Gibson needs to wake up (20 years ago!) they've been selling overpriced crap for too long.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

I'm not gonna buy a gibson. Simply their QC + business practices leave me shaking my head.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

Frankly speaking being a newbie here, OPENED up my eyes about Gibson. I thought they were quite a reputable place to invest your guitar in.
I just bought my 5th Gibson and I guess its going to be my last. I DO AGREE that the guitars are overpriced compared to the 1st I bought in 1993.
I'll just start investing in amps and accessories now

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

WOW, this is unbelievable. No more new gibsons for me!! I have been a long time supporter of cool dealers. I guess I may have to switch to Hamers, and other quality guitars. SOOOOO SAD. GIBSON, get a clue!!

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

I rather like the duct tape over the headstock name on stage suggestion, a change in name even - crudson, badson, goneson, nevergonnabyanotheroneson.

change the name to Epiphone!~ :laugh2:

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

Just out of interest, just what are the links between Gibson, Epiphone and Heritage etc - how many "names" are tied together and is it all a holding company directive thing? Can we really do something and still buy our beloved instruments without paying into the same pot?

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

OK let's get together on this... We buy as many gibson copies as possible and then send a picture of the copies to gibson and Jolly.

Heritage is completely seperate from Gibson but made up of a lot of ex-gibson employees and in Gibson's old factory. Completely different company. I think they make far better guitars too and actually pay attention to quality.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

I'll continue to look at Japan Replicas.
I can afford those.

I just think the
Tokai
Burny/Fernandes
Greco
Edwards/Navigator/ESP
Diodati
Bacchuss
Ornetts

Offer more bang for the buck.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

i didn't think it was possible to actually "hate" a company...but i understand now!

they are just making me sicker by the day...as much as i like Les Pauls...the monaco becomes more and more and more and more appealing all the time!!!

+1 Gazillion!

I own a Heritage 150, and my Gibson LP Custom didn't hold a candle to it.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

Anyone read the article? IN it it states that Elderly admitted to a mistake and has an agreement with GIbson to only sell Gibson Banjos and Mandolins.

Elderly violated a contract and is being sued.

Welcome to reality, all is not always rosy and business is business. Gibson didnt do anything wrong here.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

a former local gibson dealer told me gibson had become a "pathetic" company.
there used to be a dealer on ebay selling gibsons at very good price, aplusguitars, if I remember correctly. I called them about buying one a few years ago and the guy told me on the phone, with lots of rage, that they were gonna stop carrying gibson because they were forced by gibson to raise prices so MoFo and GC can do their bussiness.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

how is the lawsuit with PRS going?
paul smith sounded pretty optimistic in the 2005 namm video when talked about the appeal.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

Gibson is totally ridiculous. What arrogance. I agree they're trying to weed dealers out. They should just go ahead and open Gibson-direct stores.

Re: Gibson sues Elderly Instruments...

Yes, Elderly messed up...but Gibson is seeking "damages". Yeah, right.
