Gibson USA greeny(non limited edition)

Looks like Gibson just released the latest iteration of the greeny Les Paul. Do far we've seen a custom shop $50,000 model followed by another custom shop $20,000 model now a Gibson USA greeny Les Paul that is $3199. I wouldn't be surprised to see Epiphone versions next. It looks like it has the same pickups (greeny lead, greeny rythm) but is not aged. It's not even gloss it's a satin AAA top. It's basically a faded 50's standard Les Paul with greeny pickups, mismatched knobs and a AAA satin top. I'll probably end up picking one up eventually just for the satin AAA top but that's after my Mark V... Is extra $700 worth the greeny pickups and a AAA top? You be the judge of that, I don't think so but I love satin guitars so that is what's doing it for me with the upgraded top and the absence of the Les Paul silkscreen from the headstock.

I LOVE Les Pauls, and I HATE Gibson.

I absolutely recognize that there are things that are at the very least a little off, on $2000 plus guitars, is inexcusable. But I have never picked up a Les Paul off the wall that was not 100% functional and playable (ROBO-tuners excepted...).

Yeah, a nut could have been cut a little better, a fret polished a little more, the wood may not have been a first choice. For $2k+ that should all be perfect. But don't act like if you can afford this guitar you can't afford the additional 50-150 to get everything corrected until it meets "your" standards. And most of that is things any player who has been playing for any amount of time should be able to handle themselves with a little gumption and 5 minutes on YouTube - assuming you don't know how to do that stuff already.

Mainly bubbles in finishes, some unpolished areas, things like that. It’s a high end dealer that does PRS, Martin, Taylor, Gibson at one time, USA G&L, etc. Don’t believe me, that’s fine. If you’ve not experienced it, that’s a good thing. I own and play a couple Gibson guitars, and they’re good examples. It also wasn’t all of them, just enough to be a concern especially for the price of the stuff!

theres definitely been periods when gibsons qc was trash. and theres no excuse for that when you pay that much for a guitar. i get that these things happen, poorly cut nut, sloppy fret work, finish issues... thats fine, but catch them and fix em before you ship em to a store. thats the whole point of qc.

From an "Aesthetic" point, I will completely agree. There are clearly times they take a piece of maple, saw it in two and just slap it on a guitar that is getting a burst, when there is no way they should have clear finish.

And I am the king of saying "For that price..."

Find a 50s standard Faded 2023 you absolutely love, pull out the pickups and install a set of PAF's of your liking with the neck pickup phase reversed, grab a set of Grovers, and you've got the EXACT SAME GUITAR.

I get what your saying but I have a thing for satin guitars and I don't have a AAA top in my collection. I already have a 50's faded standard in practically the same color but I'm going to get one of these just to add a satin AAA top to my collection. I'll probably end up selling the pickups, I don't care for out of phase tones, or I can try to flip the magnet to put it back in phase with the other pickup if that's not to my liking then I'll sell them and put My regular 498t/490r set in it.
