Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

Re: Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

Havnt had the chance to play one yet, but man, those guitars look good. They totally have the right groove going on, and I woud really like to try one. Specially the high-roller.

Re: Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

It looks a lot like the old Gibson Trini Lopez model. A very good looking guitar.

Re: Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

haven't played them yet...but they do look pretty sweet?!

Re: Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

Almost bought one a few months ago to cure my hollowbody GAS but ultimately passed on it.

If it had been a real archtop, I'd probably have done it. As it is, it's a cool guitar but the small body and flat top make me think more "Thinline Tele" than "Gibson Semi." I think that top was a turn-off for me, and I wasn't real sure if I wanted to be part of the variable group for any Gibson Nashville hollowbody experiments. :) Without finding one to play in person I just couldn't take the leap.

I still think they look really cool, though.

Re: Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

I'd love to have a Vegas. I played a mahogany one a few months ago and was digging it.

Ultimately, I went with a 335, but I still have that Vegas model in my mind. It's one of Gibson's best new designs. It's like a cross between an SG and 335. I'm so glad they didn't do something stupid and put 24 frets on it, like the LP Double cutaway.

Reminds me of the guitar Dave Ghrol has been playing...

I know that Grohl's model is actually based on the Trini Lopez model. I'm not sure about the origins of the Vegas series, but there is definitely a resemblance.

I have played the Vegas Standard and the High Roller in person. Very impressed, for once, by a stock Gibson guitar.

Re: Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

Personally I don't dig the grohl model or the other model you speak of..... Just not my cup of tea... I'll take a 335 though... :32:

The Grohl model pretty much is a 335, but with the diamond f-holes and Firebird-esque headstock. It was actually inspired (as someone else stated) by the Trini Lopez model.

Dave Grohl owns an old TL, and said in an interview that it was his favorite guitar.

I realize it is basically a 335.....The diamond f holes and the headstock are the problems I have with the guitar..... Just not my cup of tea... Therefore I'll take a regular 335 :)

Re: Gibson Vegas Standard and High Roller

anyways, I like the vegas a lot. If I didn't already have the perfect semi-hollow...I'd go for one.

Fair enough! I think they're cool. I'd like to see those features on the smaller-bodied 339, actually.
