It's a Gibson Custom Shop- so it must be well built- I wouldn't say it's a bad guitar at all, depends if you like the specs.

Gibson used Kahler trems alot on their guitars quite a bit in the '80's

Don't know much about the guitar other than seeing pictures of it but those 80's Dirty Finger pickups are KILLER! They did have double rows of screws...as the ones pictured.

Yeah, the pups do indeed have two rows of screw, so I'm guessing that either Wikipedia is wrong (very rare :D) or the pups aren't original.

I would have to say yes....while it is rare , it's not really something you hear people rave about and search for........Rare doen't always equal valuable or collectable! I think those that buy the reverse V will find that out in 20-30 years...........:no:

thats a little too much, may $1500 but more doesnt make sence to me.

thats the type of guitar gibson should have released in Guitar of the Week!!!!!!!! alas, we get three versions of the sg with single coils:smack:

its just so awsomely pointy!

I think that thing looks awesome. I'd rather not deal with the Kahler, but whatever. It looks like it's in good enough shape.

That's kinda cool, but the Gibson logo looks kinda odd with all that pointyness going on.
$2000, that just over £1000 over here, which is probably cheap for a second hand custom shop Gibson, if it was an LP, but that's more than a brand new explorer and almost as much as a new LP, never mind proper pointy guitars like Jackson's :)

In 85 I came sooo close to buying a black XPL. The one I was trying to get was black and shaped almost the same, but it had cut outs on the body like the guitar Joe Perry played on Run DMC's Walk This Way vid. I believe it was $495 new. I bought a component stereo system instead and have forever regretted it. Most peeps have never even heard of the XPL
