It's the bridge pickup that really shines in this set, IMO! Sounded really nice!
Played through my Princeton Reverb with the amp set up off of the floor on a chair...turned the amp up to about 5.
Very smooth tone...full and never ice picky...warm with real nice sustain.
I was able to get a nice cleanish tone from the neck pickup for both solos and rythym but again, it was the tone from the bridge Phat Cat that impressed me most!
I'm one of those guys who doesn't use the bridge pickup by itself all that often. In my Strat the bridge pickup is a little to sharp sounding, even the custom shop alnico 2 bridge pickups that I use.
But the Phat Cat is a differant story! Lots of mids and the treble is not overly sharp at all. Not a shrill or annoying tone to be found in that bridge Phat Cat! The tone reminds me of a squishy caramel.
I have two single/single/HB MIJ Strats with the original Japanese pickups. My next project will be replacing those pickups and putting a set of Antiquity Strat pickups and a bridge Phat Cat in one or both of them.
I just have a feeling that the bridge Phat Cat might be as good a bridge pickup in a Strat as can be found...at least for getting humbuckerish soloing and lead tones...
