does anyone know for sure what kind of pups gilmour uses in his black strat? they have the pole pieces so if it's emg, then it must be the sv or sav model. i don't know but i would like to find out.

Re: gilmour's black strat

Dimarzio claims it's the FS-1. When I asked if it's the same as it was back then I was told it had the same specs. Whatever that means.

Re: gilmour's black strat

I agree with Rid. (If you are asking about his current black Strat, used at Live 8) I also think it has the neck from the Red one used on the Pulse tour.

Re: gilmour's black strat

Do a serach on the forum...I for a killer article about that very Strat a while back and posted it on the forum...the info is on here somewhere...you might be surprised!

Re: gilmour's black strat

I posted a in a thread a while back. It was an excerpt from a Guitarist magazine interview with Gilmour where he talks about the black Strat.

Re: gilmour's black strat

Here it is:
This is a quote from David Gilmour from a recent Guitarist interview.
"Which of your many Strats is that black one you played at Live8?"
"I've been using that one since about 1970, it's the one on Comfortably Numb. I bought it at Manny's in New York. I've always used it as a testing ground for trying all sorts of things out. It's had a few different necks on; the original had that bullet [neckplate] and a larger headstock. And it has different pickups. Years ago, I met up with Seymour Duncan and we picked three really nice sounding pickups he had. We rewound those three and they've stayed on it ever since."

Re: gilmour's black strat

:smack:

Jeremy, how did you let that happen? I would be totally chomping at the bit to try them!
