wtf.. yes you are! go get em.. NOW! and his solo albums too!

one question.. anyone ever tried the (moded) demon in the neck position?

Oh, I have Tatooed Millionaire. I really liked it as a matter of fact. I just didn't get into the Blaze Blazely era. I guess I'm a hardcore DiAnno, ****inson fan.

How is Chemical Wedding?

One of the best albums you will ever have the privelege of owning.

... I s'pose it's back to ebay for me. Hey TO, you'd be proud, I picked up 3 CD's a couple of weeks ago, and I snagged 3 CD's last week on Ebay. Last week I picked up Saxon, "The Eagle has Landed", which replaces a scratchy vinyl version (that live album was great IMO), I picked up Loudness "Thunder in the East" to replace a lost tape (wok and wo cwazy nights), and I'm almost embarassed to admit to this one, but here goes... Grim Reaper, "See You in Hell." Call that a guilty pleasure. My wife saw the cover of that one, and just shook her head.

That's alot of CD purchases for me in one period. But, they've all been 2nd hand, and that suits me fine.

Matt, I am proud, buddy! That's some serious CD shopping!
EAGLE HAS LANDED - Great NWOBHM album!
THUNDER IN THE EAST - From Clockwork Toys all the way to the end, that album ROCKS and gets the official TO \m/ sign of approval. Since this is a subject I know a little about: I think that as far as their English language albums go, Lightning Strikes is their best effort. Ignore anything that doesn't have Minoru Nihara on vox.
People always make fun of Nihara's English, which, I admit, is terrible. The solution is simple: just buy the Japanese-language versions of the albums! I really love their oldest material, like Birthday Eve, On the Prowl, Law of Devil's Island, Live and Loud, Disillusion. (If you listent carefully, you can hear all sorts of Loudness influence in my playing.) The Japanese language version of Jealousy is great, too. AKIRA TAKASAKI ROCKS!!!
SEE YOU IN HELL - Yeah, it's a guilty pleasure, but I like it, too! Every metalhead needs the Grim Reaper albums. HELL is a solid effort, actually, with the exception of the God-awful Suck It And See. Nick Bowcott knows his way around the fiddle, and it's good American-trying-to-be-European metal, in my book.

Nice review! Thunder in the East is the only Loudness I've ever owned, and I agree, that album rocks big time. I listened to that one over and over, and I really liked Takasaki's sound and playing. I can't wait for that one to arrive. I haven't heard it in about 15 years. I'll keep an eye out for those other titles.

Back when I was in high school, and during my first attempt at guitar (which I put it away for years after that), I used to play along to Eagle has Landed, because the rhythms were fairly easy, and very cool. I liked ever track on that album. That's another I can't wait to spin again after about 18 years.

Grim Reaper definitely took me back in time, and brought a devilish grin to my face. I don't think it will be in heavy rotation in my car, but it's just a fun CD.

Re: Giving the Demon one more try

Don't worry JM ... I tried listening to the Blaze era ... but I got rid of those CD's after I couldn't stand his voice.

I and I haven't bought another Maiden album after that. Tried listening to Dance of Death ... can't say I was impressed. Didn't mind Brave New World just couldn't ring myself to shell out the $27 they were asking for it (Canadian)

Re: Giving the Demon one more try

Hmmm might give it another listen ... but I was constantly hearing from people that it was the best Maiden album ever. So when I listened to it Iwas constantly putting it up against POM and Powerslave (my ideas of the best Maiden) ...

I'll give it another try

the real thing about dance of death is you HAVE to give it a couple of listens.. there were tracks on the album dance of death, paschendale, i really didnt like that much the first time through, whereas i liked no more lies and montesegur now it's rather the oposite hehe

Dance of Death is the best new Maiden song live. It's AMAZING. No More Lies falls flat live. And I've seen Maiden enough times in 2004 to speak with authority ;) ... http://randommaidenpix.tripod.com fer some REALLY cool live shots!!

Cool photos!

The one thing that surprises me is that Dave Murray is using the bridge pickup in everyone of those photos. I always thought Dave's signature was his fluid neck sound. Maybe he just uses the neck for solos.
