GlassMan "The Truth" in action

Re: GlassMan "The Truth" in action

Man, the tone of your amp cuts through with that Strat. I'd like to hear the LP player through it. Maybe he should get the next one you build:scratchch

My thoughts too! would love to hear the LP barking thru the same. Very good quality vid and good playing!!

Congrats on the amp!!

Re: GlassMan "The Truth" in action

thats good news that all that stuff is on the way. but a lot of great sounds can sound like total crap if you put the mic in the wrong place - for example that guy playing the les paul's tone is awful on the video , but if you were standing where hes is it prolly sounded great. Lucky he was using the peavey! lol
So if you gonna use live recording - maybe make sure it done pro as well. Theres no point having stuff up there if its less than killer - it wont make ppl want to buy your amp. Put your best foot forward and people will follow.

I agree. If something is poorly recorded and sounds like crap I obviously won't seek to include it personally but I'm sure that someone, somewhere will post a clip that isn't so flattering...hopefully listeners will put it in context. Nobody gets all good reviews and I'm sure I will be no exception.

Thanks bro! ...and me too!

Re: GlassMan "The Truth" in action

Your amps really have my favorite features....bias knob and reverb.
I need to figure out how to buy one of them. They look and sound great.

Which power tube type is your favorite in the Truth? Is the attenuator model way worth spending the extra $200 in your opinion?

My current favorite combo is KT66s with a 12AT7 in the preamp and a SS rectifier...I recently had a 73 50w Super Lead in for a rebuild and AB'd the two. I was able to nail of the Marshall's tone but my amp cleaned up easier with the guitar volume...and it has reverb. The one in the video has 6L6's, a 12AX7 in the preamp and a 5U4 rectifier.

I had one of my regulars come in yesterday with his Tele. I stuck a 12AU7 in the preamp and a 5U4 rectifier. It was totally clean with the volume on 10. He loved it but couldn't figure whether he liked the Blackface tone settings (T=8, M=3, B=8) or the tweed (T=2, M=10, B=1) better. That Tele sounded huge either way but the tweed setting definitely had more honk.

Repairs have been keeping me too busy to even try the attenuated speaker yet so I really can't make a recommendation. They will be in my next Emi order but then I will have to send them out to see how they work in a performance environment before I actually will decide if I will use them.

I'm revising my pricing to introductory levels and forum bros will get special considerations.

Re: GlassMan "The Truth" in action

The "real time" live use demo idea is great, but the real benefit of demos in a controlled environment is that you can demonstrate the effect of tone pot adjustments and, particularly, differences between tube types.

I would really like to hear, for example, neck single coil through the 6L6 configuration with tone knobs on 5 and then feature various reactance pot settings ....... and then do the same thing with the KT66 set-up.

I am really intrigued by your amp and look forward to hearing more!

That's exactly the type of things that I would like to showcase. I will have to see if my guitar playing has the ability to get that information across...if not, then I will turn it over to more capable hands. I kinda want to do it myself for at least a few setups to attach a face to my business; to personalize it.

The live stuff can't show control ranges but it can show that the amp is performance-worthy. I think both sets of information are important to a performing guitarist.

Performance is where an amp needs to excel with me...it's possible to futz about with a studio recording that isn't perfect, but onstage that amp better stand and deliver.

I play in a band that would do these amps justice, much like the band in your video, and those sounds would be right up my alley.

Re: GlassMan "The Truth" in action

im much more concerned with how the amp sounds in a mix on stage. in a controlled environment you can show off all the subtle things the amp does, which is great and lots of people who dont gig care much more about that. those that play out want to know how it sounds in the real world, warts and all.

Re: GlassMan "The Truth" in action

It really doesn't hurt to include clips of the studio and live gigging environments. You have a really special product here, Glassman. It can't possibly hurt to have some well done studio clips as well as the "ugly" live stuff. It's true that players want to hear how it cuts live, but please don't negate showing your amplifier in the best possible light either. An amp that sounds great live is going to sound fantastic in a controlled environment, so I think it would benefit all of your hard work to showcase your creation in different lights and let your customer base see it for everything it is, warts and all.

It sounds like I'm on the right track...more of both are in order.
