Glue Question for Luthiers

What do you guys recommend for doing inlay and nut work?

I know for glueing wood to wood ... both Hide Glue and Carpenters glue is recommended ... but for inlay and nut work?

Would you recommend, Cryanocylate, Epoxy, Hide or Carpenters Glue?

Or is there something else I should be using here?

I'm sure most Luthiers would say Hide glue. My buddy just used hide glue
to fix a loose neck pocket on a Gibson EB0 bass. As far as Nut work ,I
only use a Drop of Elmers or a even smaller drop of crazy glue(The next guy
who has to change the nut will thank you) As far as inlay work? I never did
it so I can't comment. But you can check Stewmac.com I know they have
a tuturiol on inlay work.

for inlays, here's the trick
I collect all that fine rosewood, or ebony, or maple dust from sanding the FB and mix it in with eposy
then use that to glue in and fill the tiny gaps around the inaly
I always inlay before the neck is on the gutiar and that way I am able to drill a small hole behind the inlay to allow excess glue to push through rather than get too much on the inlay

then once glued in playce just sand

as for the nut - no much glue is necessary - dorp of elmers - i often use double sided carpet tape so the nut can be shimmed if ever necessary wihtout much carzyness
