GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

Hi, does anyone out there own or know anything about the Digitech GNX3 effects pedal? I've owned it for quite some time now and really like it but recently I downloaded a couple of presets off the internet and now all my presets sound really tinny...if you know what i mean! Its hard on the ears. The thing that confusses me is even the factory presets that sounded half decent before are tinny also.
Did hooking it up to the computer screw the pedal up and can it be fixed?

Please help!!

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

My guess is the output setting got changed. Do you know what you normally have it set too?

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

No, not even sure what you mean. Alls i know is i had put some presets in manually and it sounded awesome, then I got a chord so i could put them on through the computer and it hasn't been the same! Are you familiar with the GNX3? What do you mean by output setting?

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

I've had one for a long time but its also been in the closet for a while now :) If I remember, you hit the edit button and scroll to the output menu and use the wheel to select different options. I always used direct myself but you may use another. Each will definitely change the overall tone of your patches.

K thx, i'll take a look at it when i get home, not sure if its something i've played with or not. I did get ahold of digitech and they think something may have let go internally

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

I looked at the pedal and i dont see an "edit" button, what are you refering to?

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

Look over on the buttons by the edit wheel. You should see something like menu. Press it and scroll unrolled you see output. Choose it and turn the edit knob to whatever setting you desire.

Like I said, its been a while since I've laid eyes on it so ht e button I'm talking about may be called something else like CT said. Its by the scroll wheel. You just need to take a minute to look it over. As far as I know just hooking it to your pc or downloading patches wont change these parameters but you may have inadvertently, maybe not. Just a thought.

I found what yas were talking about, played around with the settings but still tinny so i reset the pedal again and it cleaned it up for a bit but then the volume started cutting in n out, there must be an internal issue. Now im wondering if it would just be cheaper to buy a new pedal then pay for someone to trouble shoot it. I'm so frustrated cause i've been trying to figure out this problem for over a month!!

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

I did a factory reset and and everything sounded good for about half a song then everything gets real muddy on all presets, so i did another reset and the same thing happened, it sounded good for a couple of minutes then went to hell! Anyone have an idea of whats going on? I contacted digitech but they are no help, they want me to send it to a shop so they can troubleshoot the pedal but that could become expensive, i might be better off buying a new pedal. Has anyone had anything similar happen to their effects pedal?

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

I have had mine for a year and a half or so, and I have had no trouble with mine. Sorry to hear about that mang. Best of luck to ya!

Contact Will Chen at the frugal guitarist website. He really liked his gnx3 stuff and could probably help you.

Re: GNX3 presets sound tinny.....Help!!

I was actually looking into getting the RP355 or RP500, anyone have opinions on either pedal. Are the online patches good? And can a patch for the RP500 be used on the RP355 and vise versa, cause there seems to be alot more patches for the RP500 then the Rp355.
As for the GNX3, Digitech said its probably an internal problem if the factory reset didnt fix it so i'm gonna see if its fixable and if not im getting a new pedal!

Digitech presets, to me, have always sounded tinny. You have to adjust them for YOUR setup.

Lots of info on the RP500 and RP355 on the Gear Page. Some people get really great tones out of them.
