Godin Freeway Classic. Cool Superstrat for $500

Gear Ho
I walked into a good LA music store today, The Amp Shop. They deal in mostly high end guitars and amps, but one guitar caught my eye, which I assumed to be a $1200 guitar. Fortunately, the price was $500, and the guitar was really nice. Nice flamed veneer top and high quality neck. For someone wanting a Suhr, this is the cheaper alternative. Really a great deal at $500.

I've played one, excellent guitar. Is on my list of possible future guitars unless i plan to shell out loads for something amazing.

You can also get one with a floyd(not as nice looking) and one with Godins synth access. Wicked guitars, I am thinking it my be my second good guitar seeing how I already own a LG Signature.

These are great value guitars.... the neck shape some find very plain but it's not bad...... the local shop has one in used for $300... a blue one with flame veneer top... but there is some better feeling examples of the Freeway Classic on the wall then the used one and i'd gladdly pay the $500 for a better one... the used one feels awful, like stone... I'm a huge Godin fan but that used one was awful dead feeling... and a few of the new Freeways on the wall of the same store felt great... But 90% of the time the cheaper Godins offer better wood and craftsmanship then most other brands imported guitars....it's so cool that they are all North American made too... machined in Canada, and assembly is done in NY State....

But i find that with most guitars there is good ones and bad ones... example.... yesterday i was trying out some of the new MIM Standard teles with the larger frets... my 1999 Standard tele is so amazing! but the new Standard tele i tried in the store yesterday was a stone.. no life at all

Godins are amazing... furthermore, we can find them dirt cheap around here, it's almost ridiculous...

Nice score Jonesey, looks really sweet!

same thing here in Ontario.... I love my Solidac so much!!!! one of the few guitars i have kept 100% stock.... i have my eyes open for used ones like crazy... i'd love either another deal on a Solidac (or an LGX if i can find one cheap enough)

I like the freeway model better then MIM Standard Strats in the same price range just for the better looking wood and finnishes

They also have a detour for $350 that is almost identical but it's a hardtail, 24.75'' scale, and it's H/H.

They seem to be good stuff, I wish my guitar shops would get some in.

Re: Godin Freeway Classic. Cool Superstrat for $500

Godins are amazing quality. My next guitar purchase will most likely be either a freeway classic, or an lg p-90. I still have to try one out but the Montreal looks like a really interesting versatile guitar as well. I have yet to play a Godin neck that didn't make me wish I could not go to university and instead spend the money on a bunch of Godins. $500 is an insane price for a guitar that sings like that, the quality of the wood must be pretty good or there's something about the construction that really makes the guitar sustain unlike any bolt-on I've ever played.

Supposedly the neck pockets on Godins are just perfect, if I recall correctly all their guitars use bolt-on necks because their philosophy is that the glue in set necks impedes the tone of the instrument and that a bolt-on neck provides more wood to wood contact that will improve the sustain.

I've been saying it for a while. They are amazing guitars. When you consider the price it's just ridiculous. My LG even came with SD pups.

Godins = Canada FTW.

Canada : Traynor, Yorkville Cables, Godin.

Damn we have nice gear here, for really cheap.

Re: Godin Freeway Classic. Cool Superstrat for $500

I didn't buy the guitar. I just played it for 15 minutes and kept saying to myself "I can't believe this thing is only $500." I've already got too many guitars, and my G&L Legacy Deluxe is the same style of guitar.....and I like that guitar.

I never really looked at Godin's before, besides their acoustic/electric guitars, but I checked Ebay, and there always seems to be great deals on Freeway Classics and many others.

I've said it here for years and I'll continue to say it. If you're looking for one of the best bang-for-the-buck guitars out there, you need to check out Godin. I love 'em.

Ahhh. I have no clue. You'll have to wait for someone else to get the answer on that one. Sorry.

Godin guitars are amazing...
I really like their acoustic and semi hollow electrics... like the Montreal...

My older sister lives in Canada I should go visit her...

Re: Godin Freeway Classic. Cool Superstrat for $500

My montreal is one of the sexiest guitars I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

Godin makes great stuff.

Re: Godin Freeway Classic. Cool Superstrat for $500

I've considered those, but the maple/poplar body scared me off.
