Im thinking of getting a new guitar with the money im saving from my summer job. My uncle said that his friend has a Godin and he says he loves it. I Looked at their website and the Freeway SA ooks like my kind of guitar. Has anyone had any experience with godin and could you tell me about their guitars?

Re: Godin Guitars

IMO, you will be hard pressed to find a better instrument for the money. I have tried a few over the years, and have been very impressed every time. Godin owners always seem to be very proud of their guitars, and won't hesitate to say good things about them. Plus, they're Canadian made! :)

Re: Godin Guitars

I know people who have 'em and they can't stop bragging about them. The high end Godins are freakin' gorgeous, I've never seen mahogany look that good except on guitars that cost more

Re: Godin Guitars

I've got an LGSp90 Goldtop, two Duncan p90's, satin wood finish mahogany neck., I'm trying to raise some funds so I'm selling it. Awesome gig bag. If you wanna see some pictures, I have a thread in the Trading Post.

Canadian!! They are in Quebec somewhere aren't they?? And would they have factory tours?

Re: Godin Guitars

They're awesome guitars, very underrated IMO.... Definitely awesome bang for the buck.... I'm ashamed to not own any... Just give me a couple more years tho... :)

Re: Godin Guitars

My Dad had one a while back. It was before I got into guitar, so I never played it myself, but he said it was one of the best he's ever had. The only reason he got rid of it was because he didn't play electric any more. Now he plays acoustic.

Re: Godin Guitars

My old singer/rhythm guitarist had one and it was a well built guitar. Didn't feel cheap at all. I didn't like the stock pickups that much, but with a pickup change, I think the guitar could be a very solid guitar.

I think Godin and Schecter are the two guitar companies out there right now that offer the maximum bang-for-the-buck. They're both surprisingly good quality and nothing in their respective price ranges can touch them IMHO.

Re: Godin Guitars

I've got the LG P90 as well (24 fret version) in gold, it is very well made. The neck is carved well, the recessed bridge is a nice touch, and it has great sustain. Some of the little things that they did that I love is the fretwork, especially on the edges, and the holly veneer on the headstock. The only thing I did to mine was put in 500K pots, and that is simply a preference thing.

To think these are Canadian/US made for this little dough is unbelievable.

Re: Godin Guitars

played one (LGX with some kind of rails buckers) through a Fandango the other day...sounded absolutely incredible!!! the fit and finish was top notch...but the neck was a little thin for my tastes?!

Re: Godin Guitars

Amazing guitars, even more amazing vecause of the price. I have a LG signature loaded with duncans, beautiful sustain and tone, i honestly have no grudges against this guitar, not one.

Re: Godin Guitars

Love Godin!!!!! The Freeway model is a much better guitar then the Fender Mexican Standard in the same price range so i was debating selling off one of my Mexican Strats and get a Freeway! I own a Solidac and love it!!!!! I oneday want an LG too

The Freeway has some serious tone woods and real fancy maple tops..... the neck has med-large frets, the pickups are nice and the hardware is also nice... For the cash they are the best in their price range!

They are made in Canada just outside of Montreal, but i believe the parts are shipped to the States for final assembly... Part Canada part USA

what would you guys compare the neck sizes to!?

The Freeway feels a lot like a strat to my dumb hands.

The LG feels Fenderesque, but not at the same time....kinda weird I know.

Re: Godin Guitars

The LG is like a Tele meets Les Paul. Neck is not as big as a Historic Les Paul, but it's got significant mass to it. Not strat or tele like at all.

I was just wondering, is the Freeway SA the same as the Freeway with just the 13 pin output?

Ya i think so... i didn't notice if it had a different bridge at all... But for sure it is the same body, neck and pickups on the Freeway Classic.

Awesome, those are my exact two guitars! It's funny though they have they same pickups, but the Solidac sounds so much fuller and powerful stock. I got a Freeway without a maple top for $100 bucks less, so maybe that's why. I love everything on the freeway except for the pickups so I am going to change those out. Probably a Pearly Gates set, or maybe a 59/AlnicoII, or possibly a Custom/59 combo. I still can't decide whether I want to go more vintage or hard rock. Anyways, Yes-Fan just get one man. They rock!
