Godin users unite

Re: Godin users unite

Thanks. Right now it has Dimarzio's in it, FT1 neck, Cruiser(b) middle & Chopper bridge. Thats the combo I settled on finally that sounded best to me. The bridge is wired for dual sound & one tone knob. The FT1 is always in series & gets one tone knob, Cruiser doesnt get a tone knob & the tone pots are no load ones(diy). One master volume & its push/pull too, turns the neck active in series to all positions, total 8 sounds- the usual five & then these - neck in series with middle, neck in series with bridge & lastly neck in series with [middle in parallel with bridge]. The chopper sounds great in the bridge, it was too dark in the neck. The FT1 was boring in the middle & cruiser lacked in the neck.

I had to cut some wood out in the corners of the humbucker cavity inorder to fit them in slanted position. Got a sheet of plexi glass( I think that's what it was) or acrylic sheet, about the same thickness as the pickguard, I couldn't import premade conversion mounts for H to SC. Then had to cut the shape out using a acrylic cutter/knife, took 3 hrs, ended up cutting it the wrong orientation lol But still was worth it since I got to try out the Jimi Hendrix reverse slant bridge thing. Then next day spent another 3hrs & got it done correctly(almost). Also had to file the holes of the pickup mounting screws for the neck & middle pickups to get the new ones to fit properly.

I'm quite pleased with the end results. It doesn't sound like a vintage strat though, more contempory by default but adjusting the amp settings definitely helps for it to sound more traditional. It it weren't so heavy, I'd like using it more often out.

Re: Godin users unite

I picked up a couple more Artisan models a TC (gave it to a good friend) another ST Signature (transparent blue), and an LG Signature. These guitars are astounding! I cannot believe that Godin doesn't get more love.

They are sweet looking guitars. Only those that own and play Godin guitars can appreciate the Quality ,playability of these instruments. To those that don't own one of their beauties is missing out.

Re: Godin users unite

Well I got to tell you guys, I have been checking out the Godin Core Ct HB. It sure is some ssweeeett lookin and sounding guitar. I will be looking at this to replace my B.C Rich Eagle 1. The sounds that come from this puppy are fantastic, for starters comes with standard Seymour Duncan 59 in bridge and the Godin H1 pickups in the neck, you can opt for P90s if you wish, but I have to tell you like the sounds with the Seymour Duncan's and the Godin pickups better. Beautifully made I dig the all black one. This baby is light comes in at under 7lbs and has a slim neck.

I have one of the Godin Cores before they went to the "Carved Top". It's actually more of an edge bevel I think, but still a nicer looking update. I think they also changed the upper bout shape a bit. Also, went from Mahogany to Cedar for the body wood. I paid a good clip under $600 for mine when they were moving them out for the new models. Mine has two G&B made Godin humbuckers and I've left them in so far. I don't know if they changed the neck profile but I wouldn't call it slim, not on mine anyway. It's like a medium C. I prefer a little more chunk but it's very comfortable. It's almost like a semi-hollow without sound holes. Not quite but kind of a hybrid. Really, the chambering is the only thing that keeps me from wanting a Summit CT over a LP Traditional. I don't have anything against chambered guitars and I really like the Core. Just don't need or want another chambered guitar.

Welcome to the forum!

Wow, that is an awesome color!

Hey Thanks! She is a Beauty! I've only put a couple of hours of playing on it, and so far I Love it, build quality is so great, The neck is wonderful, unfinished mahogany, not too thick, not too thin, really sold me, truly a unique, quality instrument.

My Artisan ST Signature is a very similar color and it is beautiful, just like yours. My LG Signature is incredibly comfortable to play. Like you, I really dig that mahogany neck. Mine is incredibly resonant and it really sings, so I could imagine yours is similar. I would be curious how that translate into the piezo system.

Congrats on a great guitar!

Re: Godin users unite

When I bought my 1st somewhat expensive guitar, I wanted a Godin. The guy talked me into a G&L and what a mistake. G&L makes some great guitars I guess, but I wanted a Godin. Live and learn, my acoustic is a Seagull and its a great guitar

Re: Godin users unite

Buying a Godin guitar has spoiled me. I recently bought an American Telecaster and while it is great, I wish it had the neck and fret work of my Godin guitars.

Re: Godin users unite

I am currently having a Montreal Premiere built for me. It should be completed in late April.

Hey thanks, Yes resonant it is, even unplugged acoustically it really rings and sustains loud!!
I've only been using it with headphones so far, I'll have the house to myself tonight, I'll be able to plug it in to my PA, and My Mesa.

14 years ago I got it in 2005 this pic was on my 60th birthday 9 years
ago .

This guitar is very well built and plays beautifully , it has full synth access
as well as magnetic split coil X2 SD humbuckers ( Custom Custom & SHII's )
& piezo .

:headbang:
I get that Stratotele sound - love it as well as the beefy SD humbucker
& piezo acoustic electric sound and the dynamic addition of the synth .
:bandit:
The FX from my T.C.H.VL3X on this guitar are ever as good as the
FX on the Roland GR33 , those Roland FX . The GR33 has the same
synth engine as their JV1080 .
I had a Digitech GNX4 with it's power house field of MFX and amp
and cab modeling - morphing custom presets , 8 track looper/recorder .
:reporter:
To replace what the GNX4 did I got a T.C. Helicon VoiceLive 3
Exteme MFX/Looper & a Singular Sound BeatBuddy for soloing .
:smoker:
I'm ready to get the Godin Multiac Nylon [ Slim ] , I have a no name
000 nylon made of cocobolo ( body n sides ) solid spruce top single
cutaway acoustic electric and have gotten spoiled by it's smooth and
fast action . On top of it all it sounds really good if not great IMHO .

I thought of getting the Fishman Triple Play , about the same $'s for
everything FTP needs to play live or on your computer , so I'm at a
crossroad on which way to go .

•¿• So do I get a Godin or at Fishman and mount it on that 000 nylon •?•

Deductive Logic Time :

It's never easy .................... I'll be in Mx in a few weeks and know of several
really good music store / guitar shops with some awesome stuff - it's never easy .

Re: Godin users unite

Well, I think the Fishman needs steel strings, right? It is just a hex pickup. That would make the decision easy. I know Godin makes other guitars with the Fishman TP system already built in, but that is $$. Godin makes their Multiac but with a Roland system, which has a 13 pin out, not the wireless Fishman system (unless something has changed).
