godsmack distortion

i have been searching in the internet about godsmack tony rombola gear and he says in several interviews that he doenst use distortion pedals , that his sounds are just les pauls & mesa boogie with the gain cranked up .
ok i have the epi standard with upgraded pickups , but mesa boggie ? i cant afford it , i have a marshall 30 watt amp it sounds decent , ok which distortion pedal is gonna give me the godsmack distortion ??

alright, so im gona be one of the many who thinks that a line 6 distortion moddeler would be a good choice. i say this because not only can you get 16 different distortion peddals, but u can save 4 at a time and get all kinds of killer tones from it. its a hefty 250$ though (although i think the prices of line 6 stuff just went down so u will have to check that out) or pick one up off of ebay or something. anyways, that distortion box is an excellent choice if uve got the money for it, definatly cheaper than a mesa/boogie amp. also consider the line 6 amp moddeler pedal, same principal as the distortion, just with amp models. i think there is a mesa boogie amp model of there, but again, its 250$. just a couple thoughts. hope that helps.

Ok guys, I have a 15w Ibanez solid state amp, what pedal do I use to get a Soldano SLO or a Bogner Ecstasy? :smack:

We all want the tone in our heads to be cheap and there to be an "easier" way to get it, but if that was the case, nobody would pay full price for the expensive stuff. You get what you pay for and nothing is going to nail that tone without buying the real thing.

However, with that said, G2D Morpheus would be a killer heavy distortion pedal I'm sure would work, never tried the Line 6, but I wouldn't rule it out. A Keeley modded Boss Metal Zone should do the job as well. None of these will do exactly the same thing, but it offers heavy distortion which is in the ballpark of what you're looking for. Heck, with most heavy oriented amps, all you have to do is scoop the mids and up the treble and bass to get the "rectifier sound". My old Triamp had enough gain to be able to replicate it very well.
