It is fixed post-overdrive, which is how I typically use a boost and dirt stomp.

I always have the boost on to help shape the overdrive. You know I love my gain staging. I use a VOL pedal, so I just rock forward when I want to come up in the mix.

I think you could do far worse than this. While it is primarily designed for use with power amps or into an FX return it sounds fantastic into the front end a high headroom clean amp too.

In my experience, trying to get a lot of gain from one source often leads to a fizzy sound. Gain staging, however, tightens and compresses the signal while keeping it wide and full, avoiding those over-compressed, thin guitar tones reminiscent of the '80s.

OK - I appreciate all of the "less gain is better" comments - but to be clear:

I just want stupid gain levels for playing solo in the music room, just for $#!ts and giggles because insane gain.

Agreed. I have to say even the more vintage high gain marketed SS11 is capable of some straight up wicked metal grind.
