Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

Sitting on 2 Rockmaster preamps and am going with a stereo rig. I already have a 2x12 cab that'll be rewired to accommodate the setup, but now it's time to look at AB/Y boxes. Looked some up, passive, active, and the pros and cons of each. Would it be cheaper to buy one, or make one from schematics? I'm thinking the ones with the isolation feature would be a preferred way to go.

Re: Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

I've had no problem with the Morley ABC box running three signals at once. (I've read that the George Lynch version of it has problems.)

I would say just try whatever one is most convenient to acquire and see if it works for you.

Re: Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

Switching between amps: passive. Running both at same time: Active. Right from Radial's mouth.

With that said, look at the Radial boxes, top notch and some cool parameters to adjust.

Re: Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

Heard our local Shacks are closing and right now their stuff is 75% off. Would it be worthwhile to d.i.y it with an appropriate schematic, or just stick to a brand?

Re: Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

you can find a used Morley ABY for about $20

I like mine
my buddy liked mine so well, he bought a used one (for $20)

brand new they are $50
Live Wire and Fender have identical copies of the Morley priced similarly

I saw a version of the Morley with volume knobs for each input
may come in handy if you might be balancing the volumes of say and Acoustic and a Strat

my buddy uses his as a splitter to send the same signal to two different amps
he knows why, i don't

Morley for the win

oh and if you are sending the guitar signal to two different amps
Steve Vai says one has to be different to be stereo, otherwise its just dual mono

so I would suggest either adding delay/chorus to one signal
or separate delays and or choruses to each signal

Re: Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

I am planning on getting a stereo power amp soon. Then running each preamp to one of the 2x12 speakers.

Re: Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

Then you don't need an ABY pedal
Ignore my last post

Re: Going Stereo! AB/Y ideas.

I have a EH switch blade plus for running one amp dirty and another clean, Never had any issues with that. Plus it's a bit smaller than the Morley
