Going tweed - 5E3 vs Blues Jr.

Being finally satisfied (for now) with my guitar, I'm thinking of getting myself a good bluesy tube amp. But right now I can't decide what would be best for me. My options are a clone version (weber or ceriatone) of the 5E3 tweed deluxe or the Blues jr.

On one side I like the customization possibilities building a 5E3 clone gives me. I also like a lot the mic input I can use with my harmonica. But the Blues jr would save me time and effort thinking about speakers, tubes, etc. It also have a master volume and reverb which is a big plus for me. But the price is a little higher.

Or should I be thinking of something like the Superchamp?

I play blues and rock through a Tele with a booster and maybe some fuzz.

What you guys think would be best as a first tube amp??:scratchch And it must be something capable for rehearsing and smaller gigs.

the blues jr is more versitile but a well built 5e3 is more fun to play. there is another thread where we discussed different 5e3 clones and good ones are gonna be more than a blues jr.

i have both amps

Blues Jr is only tweed in it's covering...those amps sound nothing like any tweed Fender amp from the 50's I've ever played.

A real tweed Fender or a good clone is head and shoulders above a Blues Jr IMHO.

Never actually played a 5E3, but I'd be inclined to go with it over the Blues Jr.

As a matter of fact I do like the idea of a 5E3, I just wanted to know if it was worth the effort. Many people seem very fond of that amp. So I guess it must be nice.

I mean effort because I'm getting a kit, and building the cab myself, so I can save some money. It doesn't seems to be a complex circuit. Isn't it?

I say this all the time but I'll say it again...

DO NOT BUILD AN AMP KIT IN ORDER TO SAVE MONEY....

If you know nothing about amps and want one then BUY one...if you want to save money call Geico!

I'd say go with the 5E3 for the harp too as the blues junior probably has a bit too much gain hence howling feedback! I have briefly played harp through a weber 5E3, it was a bit harder to tame than the 5F1 but I didn't spend much time messing with the tone controls and it was turned up too loud anyway.
In conclusion the 5E3 is probably best all round for you.

The tweed Deluxe (5E3) is one of the best amps I've every played through (I tried a Fender re-issue, the expensive one - never tried a clone). Beautiful, harmonically rich clean that's very touch-sensitive.

The Blues Jr. ... meh. They're fine amps, just not my thing.
