Using the gold strings on my Les Paul Supreme and I am not sure that I like them better than what I normally use. Also, these are 9's and I usually use 10's and I top-wrap. If I bond with these strings.....I will get back with you. In the meantime......here's some photos of what the gold strings look like on my guitar.

Re: Gold Strings For the Extra Bling................

A question about the tone on those gold strings... Does the bling ring?

Re: Gold Strings For the Extra Bling................

Can't even tell a difference on my phone, but maybe in person it's cooler. How do they sound/feel?

They feel really slinky, bend and return to pitch well. Bright and sustains well.

Sounds great! I forgot to ask, what brand?
The brand is Optima. I had a problem with the high E string......it broke at the where the string is wound at the ball end. I had to wrap the string at the ball end myself and it is holding up well. These strings normally cost around $32.99 I believe. I bought the very last set that Elderly had on hand for $8.00. I am still trying to bond with these. I do think they look increible.

Elderly music in lansing? Sorry I can't see your info since I'm on my phone. That's a steep price to pay for strings, but then again, looking good doesn't come cheap.

Re: Gold Strings For the Extra Bling................

I heard from somebody that they had used the Optima gold strings and they lasted for over 5 years. Brian May uses Optima gold strings......his' namesake brand of Optima. Optima gold strings can be purchased for $23.99 at Strings By Mail. Best price I have found.

Re: Gold Strings For the Extra Bling................

There was a company selling gold plated strings back in the 90's. The local guitar/music shop got some for free and they gave them away, and just asked for our thoughts. I remember that they lasted a really long time. The tone was ok, but the price back then was just too high. I can picture the package in my mind, but not the name of the brand. The store did carry them for a while, but they didn't sell because of the price. I remember they were on the wall with the strings for years, slowly dwindling in number.
