If I was to acquire one of these Strats, the first thing I would do, and this is just me, is rewire the thing without the S1 switching. Just plain ol' volume, 2 tone, 5-way switching. I'm not a huge fan of the S1 switching but I love Bill's pickups.

I'm very tempted to do this very thing. I never push the switch down (unlike my tele, where I'm constantly pushing the thing down)....I happen to feel that the s1 switch itself is contributing to the mud. Part of me would rather have a regular run of the mill volume knob there!

Strangegrey, if you want to get rid of your S-1 pot, PM me, because I'll buy it from you, or trade the regular Am. Strat volume pot for it. I even posted a wanted ad in the trader section, because I need one.
