Re: good ~$750 acoustic??
Well... One vote cast for Blueridge Guitars. I arrived at Renson Guitar Shop in Studio City just before closing. Norik (the owner) was still finishing on some other repairs and had no problem letting me take the Blueridge BR-143CE for a short test drive. What a delight. Got the guitar and case for EIGHT BILLS.
The guitar is Martin-like in dimensions and tone... 000 size with a cutaway. A solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides offer rich tone. The Taylor-like neck is sweet and low profile with very good action. There will be no difficulties switching between it and an SG or 60's LP. An electric players dream! This thing came with a Fishman Prefix Plus pickup system (this alone is worth almost half the price). Man, talk about bang-for-the-buck! I sold some older gear to cover the cost... it feels like I got a free guitar!
I got the recommendation (store and model) from a guitar player friend, Jay Leach. Great call. Norik Renson was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend both the shop and the guitar.
According to Norik, more than a few professional studio guys are using this guitar because of it's tone and abilility to stay in tune (just nobody knows about it).
TRY THIS GUITAR. You will not be sorry.
