I played with a Moogerfooger analog delay and it was waycool. I think it was about $500 and I'm not sure it's worth that much.

I mostly want quality.. before options, but it has to have a true bypass.

Does anyone have suggesions? :wall:

I have a Maxon AD-900 that I absolutely love. They go on Ebay for around $300, but I got lucky and paid $250 shipped. I think they've been discontinued due to the scarcity of analog delay chips, but they're up on Ebay all the time. The nice thing about this pedal is that it has a 600 ms maximum delay time, which is about twice as long as a typical analog delay. It's buffered bypass with a mechanical stomp switch, rather than true bypass, but it doesn't suck tone at all, and it can be true bypassed if you really want to do it. If you don't need 600 ms of delay time, try the Maxon AD-80. 300 ms of delay, and cheaper than the AD-900. Other good delays are the MXR analog delay, the Boss DM-2 and DM-3, Ibanez AD-9, and EH Memory Man. The MXR pedals are very easy to wire for true bypass, but they run off of AC power only, so keep that in mind. Most of these can be had for $100-$200.

OK thanks guys.. I had no clue, but I will research the AD-900 :scratchch

The AD-900 is arguably the finest analog delay pedal period. If you have the cash, it's worth it.... unfortunately I don't.

I'd still recommend the digital and way cool sounding Line6 DL4 over every analog delay pedal I have ever tried.

Check this one out to. I had a chance of owning it and loved it`s pure, warm analog tone.

It's got a bit of a learning curve to it, though!:D

Have you considered the Visual Sound H20? It's digital and only 800ms, but supposedly it sounds analog.:D

Thanks guys
I have a couple of digital delays and I specifically am looking at true analog with true bypass .. I tried the Line 6 but it sounded too digital to me.

There's a few other affordable delays... I've heard good comments about some DoD Analog Delays.... Ibanez AD-9, EH Memory Man and Boss are all good products under 200$.

Thanks but I am specifically looking for experienced opinions on quality and the cheaper units don't usually have true bypass.

How long of a delay time are you looking for? Most analog delays max out at 300 ms, with some of the more expensive models going up to 600 or 800 ms. If you already have a digital delay, I'd recommend using that for longer delays, and then using an analog pedal for shorter slapback-type delays. In that case, I'd go with the newer Maxon AD-9, which is true bypass, or the MXR analog delay, which is very easy to true bypass. The AD-9 and the EH Memory Man are the only models I know of that come standard with true bypass switching.
