Good Cheap Powered Studio Moniters

I am looking into getting some moniters for my computer: recording, listening to music and playing with the M-Audio black box. I was looking at the M-Audio Studiophile DX4s. This is my price range ($150). Are these worth it and would anyone recommend something else similar (powered and withing $200 bucks)?

If you can pull it the KRK Rokit series just can't be beat for the budget range.

i have the small roland powered speakers ... not crushingly loud, but more than adequate for my use ... recommend

Re: Good Cheap Powered Studio Moniters

i recently bought a set of Event TR5's

active monitors, for which i paid roughly 450 for the set.

clear sound, bone crushing loud (well.. not that loud, but if it's on 100% you cant listen for long cos it makes your ears hurt)

IMO, it's better to pay a bit extra for quality, than get something cheaper for the time being. i know mine arent top of the line, but they play amazingly well

This is very good advice . . . especially when buying audio gear. Take some time and look for somthing that's really nice and you'll be happy with it for a long time.
