Good chorus for the money

Re: Good chorus for the money

Look for a used Boss CH-1 or CE-2. The CE-3 is really good too. Prices for the CE-2 can get up over $100 because of their collectibility so search wisely there. The Electro-Harmonix Small Clone is another good one.

+1 on the CE-3. I bought one off FleaBay for $35 - sounds as good as what I can vaugely remember of my old CE-2's back in the day. But the CE-3's haven't gotten labeled "vintage" yet, so they're way cheaper. Grab one while you can.

Re: Good chorus for the money

check out the ce-2b - it's 3 or 4 component swaps away from being a CE-2, and i got mine for the equivalent of $8 shipped ;) (it was broken)

You can typically grab a voodoo lab analog chorus for under 100...great chorus pedal right there.

Re: Good chorus for the money

CE-2 is the one to look for for sure...sounds a good bit like a CE-1 but can be had for lots less than a CE-1 and I see them all the time for less that $100...Lew told me to give them a try, I did and I love it!

Oh yeah. I forgot about the bass version. I'd leave it as-is though, no modding. The bass flanger sounds great with guitar so the chorus probably sounds killer too, warmer sounding without too much high end emphasis.

I just picked up a CE2 for $75 in a pawn shop and I love it! Very sweet sounding.

Agreed....but mine had the volume boost before I sent it off to Digital Musc to be modded. They do it for free but you have to pay for shipping there.

Re: Good chorus for the money

I like the Boss CE-2...it's mono. David Gilmore uses one too. My favorite inexpensive stereo chorus is the Danolectro Cool Cat. Killer stereo chorus went sent to two amps. Lew

Re: Good chorus for the money

I buy older Boss Chorus's when i find them for cheap... By older i do not always mean vintage stuff as the prices are way past what i can pay these days.... But i'm talking some Boss chorus models of the past 10 years... And when i can find the older ones like my 80's Boss Demention C for $35-$50 i grab them! In some stores they sell used pedals for almost nothing! Makes me wonder why someone would sell a pedal that originaly cost $120 to a store for $20 cash...... But i get a good deal on them so why should i complain
