My other band just collapsed on itself because one of our guitarrists has been acting like a douche bag-ditched us on a gig date so he could go to this kid's birthday, and ditched us for 2 days when we were working on our demo and because of that we couldn't get it done by the battle of the bands deadline.
So, im stranded with the air-headed drummer kid with the maturity level of an 8 year old and the 'deserter guitarrist'. I've been playing with this guy for 4 years almost and we make a great team so i guess i'll just have to bite the bullet and suck this one up.
This drummer started playing last year and he's OK chops wise but lacks timing, control, beat variety, and feel. What are some good songs he could listen to to pick up good habits, techniques, and new beats? We play a jazz/blues/rockabilly type style, i guess we're in the same boat genre-wise as the allman bros. We have 2 guitars, a saxophone/keyboard player (mostly organ tones), bassist, and drummer. HELP?
