good little amp for home practice?

what little amp would be the best bet for either using it as a main tone(high gain tones) and using a Vamp2 for effects in the loop of the amp or
getting a little amp to just power the Vamp2 like a power amp?
you know going straight into the amps input set for a clean tone?

Re: good little amp for home practice?

i asked a similar question a while ago and the forum responded with .... ROLAND CUBE 30. it now has made my wishlist.

Re: good little amp for home practice?

i like my Marshall MD15CD solid state, i can pump the gain alot....

Re: good little amp for home practice?

Traynor CV 20, all tube, great for practice and recording.

Re: good little amp for home practice?

The FENDER MINI TONEMASTER!!! It provides a massive ONE WATT of power output with controls for clean or overdriven tones. It can be powered with a 9V batttery or an AC adapter.

Re: good little amp for home practice?

I'd recommend a Line 6 Spyder, the 50 watt model with two 10's. They're not really loud enough for live, but they sound great at home in the living room and have a whole plethora of useable effects. If you want more bottom end, go with the 112 version of the same. It's a little louder, too, which makes it great for small clubs.

Re: good little amp for home practice?

i'd just get a modelling amp

the flextone three's are nice, you can get a 1x12 one pretty cheap now, dunno how much in dollars mind

Re: good little amp for home practice?

The Valvetronix 15 watter looks like a pretty good small practice amp

Re: good little amp for home practice?

Ive heard good stuff about the cube30 aswell, i dont think you can go wrong with one of them.

Re: good little amp for home practice?

my idea was always to use the v-amp2 and a very small tube (5watts or less i think) poweramp and a 1x12" cab. But where to find such a small amp? Maybe built one but it would be a hard project....
But I think it would sound killer ;)

Re: good little amp for home practice?

I've always used a MG series Marshall for home use, there's nothing better for the price. Great tones at low volumes. Hell, I even gigged with it for a while. :)

Re: good little amp for home practice?

you could easily take your Vamp and plug it into a pair of PC speakers.

I did that for a while with the DGStomp with satisfactory results.

not a bad idea at all
:cool3: it would also be in stereo that way!

Re: good little amp for home practice?

I like my Hughes/Kettner edition blue 30W reverb. Solid cleans and kicks the shizzizzle out of my buddies "vintage tube danelectro 40w"

I paid about 220 USD for a new one. Check out ebay. they're lightweight and sound much richer than the Vox IMHO. Not bad at home and it's there when you need a bit of heat too.

Re: good little amp for home practice?

Get one of the little Laney tube amps, like an LC15. They sound great, are all tube and are nive and small :)
